The opening is a blast, with Holmes racing through the dark streets of London as he tries to prevent the sacrifice of a young lady at the hands of the evil Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong, speaking in very ominous tones). Day over it was back to no sleep and an early Sunday start! A little put off, a little intrigued, a little turned on, a little disturbed, a little exhilarated, all the while your brain is racing through a dark, sticky woods of unusual nightmares you never realized you had. Heavy rain whipped across my face, almost blinding me. Racing through jungle rivers in the night. As the only heritage bike competing (only genuine 100% original race bike in the field) this was a true achievement. Into night I rode like hell And did not stop a single time The horse was like to painted steel Painted black in fearsome pain. Most of the "story" is just a bunch of kids in cars racing through dark mountain passes or talking about racing through dark mountain passes. Again I ask myself what I am doing riding out into the dark Italian summer night, my body willing me back to the warmth of my bed. Thunder crashed, and lightning spiked across the sky. I've just finished reading David Millar's autobiography Racing Through the Dark, which I can honestly recommend as a “must read” for those truly interested in what really happens behind all the glitz and glamour every July. Suddenly the scene changed, and I was racing through the darkness. Besdides being a story of one man's fall Racing through the Dark (Orion) is an insight into a sport that, during the period when Millar was in his pomp, was killing itself from the inside.
